Summer Book Clubs

Summer book clubs meet once a week in Rinconada Park. Shortly before the start of your session, you will receive a survey that allows your child to vote on a book choice. On the first day of the book club, your child will receive the chosen book and a binder with materials for the session. Reading assignments will be given for each week, and participants may read the book on their own, listen to a parent read it, or even listen to an audio version. During each book club meeting, the group will discuss the reading for that week, share thoughts and questions, and practice evidence-based comprehension strategies in order to reach a deeper understanding of the text. At this time, book clubs are offered for children entering fifth and sixth grades.
